Cycle County Active County Essex 2019
The 7th annual event in the Cycle City series will take place on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 September 2019, hosted by Essex County Council,
incorporating Cycle City Active City: Creating Active Places
Cycle County Active County (formerly Cycle City Active City) is the UK’s established and premier networking event for public and private sector professionals tasked with enabling, designing, implementing and improving provision for active travel, and embedding its use for more short journeys and more parts of longer journeys. Our focus is on walking, cycling and other active modes, and on maximising their contribution to better mobility, health, cleaner air and strengthening community resilience.
Cycle County Active County will feature a major two-day exhibition of the product, service and consultancy suppliers to the sector.

After a very successful event in Manchester in 2018, which attracted more than 500 delegates, we’re moving to Essex for 2019. For the first time a County Council will host the event series.
The aim of Cycle City Active City Manchester is for professionals in government, business, third sector, transport and urban consultancy, academia and public health to share experiences around the following themes:
- Collaboration between transport planning, health and urban development initiatives
- Active travel solutions for smaller cities, towns and rural areas
- Designing in activity and wellbeing
- Re-booting planning and masterplanning for activity
- Designing, funding and embedding behaviour change schemes
- School walking and cycling schemes
- Investment in / funding for active travel
- Building the evidence base: scheme monitoring and evaluation and showcasing toolkits
- Research into practice:collaboration with academia
- Managing vehicle-based travel demand
- Keeping walking and cycling central to future mobility
- Community engagement
