West Essex and Hertfordshire CCGs – senior appointments update

Message from Jane Halpin about the new joint executive team appointments for the three CCGs in our Integrated Care System…

Dear colleagues

As many of you know, one of my first tasks as the new Joint Chief Executive for our three CCGs and Integrated Care System has been to start the process of establishing a single executive team, in line with the decisions previously taken by the Governing Bodies.

I am writing to update you about that process. Last week, interviews were held for the following posts:

  • Managing Director – one post for each CCG
  • Chief Finance Officer – one post to cover the three CCGs
  • Director of Nursing and Quality – one post to cover the three CCGs.

This has been a difficult process for those involved. The calibre of all the candidates was very high and anyone who has ever been through a period of organisational change will appreciate how tough it can be. I would like to thank everyone who put themselves forward for one of the new roles – it was very clear that each CCG has benefited hugely from your skills, experience and service.

I can now confirm that the substantive Managing Directors for each CCG are Peter Wightman (West Essex CCG), Sharn Elton (East and North Hertfordshire CCG) and David Evans (Herts Valleys CCG). All three have already taken up their posts, and West Essex CCG has said a fond farewell to Andrew Geldard, and thanked him for his hard work and leadership as Interim Accountable Officer.

Alan Pond from East and North Hertfordshire CCG has been appointed as the new Chief Finance Officer and Jane Kinniburgh from West Essex CCG has been appointed as the new Director of Nursing and Quality. They will take up their new positions from 1 August 2020.

I would like to extend my congratulations to Peter, Sharn, David, Alan and Jane – I am looking forward to working closely with them all.

We are working with those colleagues who have not yet secured a post to explore all possible options for continuing to benefit from their skills and expertise within the local system. I will also be considering and refining the other proposed director-level posts across our three CCGs. The consultation process for these posts will begin shortly.

Please join me in congratulating the first cohort of the new joint executive team.

Yours sincerely

Dr Jane Halpin
Joint Chief Executive, West Essex and Hertfordshire CCGs and the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System
