Successful integrating pharmacy and medicines optimisation regional event

On Wednesday 13 March, our Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) pharmacy professional leads, Anurita Rohilla and Pauline Walton, hosted a regional event in London with NHS England.

The event shared information on a wide range of medicines optimisation taking place across the STP.  These included:

• the frailty agenda
• integrating community pharmacists, urgent care pharmacists and GP based pharmacists into the work of the STP.

NHS England chief pharmacists presented the national vision and were very interested in the local pharmacy workforce review. Around 60 pharmacists and clinicians from our region as well as many from further afield came to the event. It received very positive feedback, including the following from one delegate:

“It is not often these days, I come away filled with hope that collaboration across the pharmacy sectors can work and actually produce results.  You should feel very proud. There are some really great varied examples of joint working in the different sectors.”
