Staff briefing roundup

Here’s a summary of what was covered in this week’s staff briefing…

Welcome – Rob Gerlis

  • Next week’s West Essex CCG staff briefing will be cancelled to make way for the ICS wide staff briefing
  • A diary invite with a link to this will be circulated this week
  • If you have any topics or questions you would like Jane or the MDs to discuss or answer, please email the Comms team by Friday this week

Vaccination update – Stephen Fry

  • Vaccinations are still underway
  • Message from region as an ICS – overall we are doing well in terms of the first dose
  • West Essex is slightly behind our ICS colleagues
  • Prevalence is looking better – in the past 7 days it has dropped in the three localities
  • Regionally there were three deaths and nationally 50 deaths
  • Even though there has been a reduction in deaths there is still pressure in the trusts – with 30 COVID positive patients
  • Ian Tompkins – we’re working with colleagues to carry out walk-in clinics
  • 18-29 age group – Harlow has increased by 2%; this shows that some of the marketing techniques that Iolanda and the Comms teams are doing are really working
  • 30-39 age group is plateauing
  • Waltham abbey is behind Harlow – we are working on boosting uptake in this area
  • Chigwell has a bus vaccination walk-in clinic
  • From 6 September, Phase 3 should be implemented; this is when booster vaccinations should be taking place alongside the flu vaccination programme
  • We have also been targeting the homeless
  • In October/November a new law requiring all care home staff to be vaccinated is set to be introduced
  • More news on where staff can get the booster and flu will be out in due course
  • Avni Shah – we are awaiting the data for vaccinated pregnant women to be refreshed nationally. This had been asked from the national team
