Social September has started
This week marks the start of Social September, this month’s theme for our 12 months of healthiness campaign.
The focus for this month is about being more sociable, so whether you decide to:
- spend more time socialising with loved ones
- invite friends or colleagues out to dinner, or
- make conversation with strangers in the supermarket or on the bus…
You get the idea! It’s all about engaging, connecting and enjoying the company of others.
Here are some ideas for things you can get involved with or take part in this month.
Coming up this September…
CCG Book Club – Thursday 12 September
Do you love reading? If so, share your passion with colleagues at the next book club meeting.
Come along to the Oak Room at 1pm (for half an hour) on the above date.
Jeans for Genes Day – Friday 20 September
Don your denim and make a donation to help children with life-altering genetic disorders.
If you normally wear jeans to dress down on a Friday, try double-denim or even triple denim!
If you can’t or don’t want to wear jeans, you and your team could wear something blue instead… socks, shirt or blue nail varnish.
More details on the Jeans for Genes website.
National Fitness Day – Wednesday 25 September
Why not go for a lunchtime walk with colleagues for National Fitness Day. It’s a great social activity with others, is free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, clear your head and lift your mood.
World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – Friday 27 September
Gather your fellow tea and coffee drinkers and cake munchers to help raise money for Macmillan.
We’ll be hosting an event at Ashlyn’s, the café at St Margaret’s on the above date, so look for further details on AskHUE next week.
Lunch club
Remember, the Oak Room is available to use every day between 12pm and 1pm.
Come and use this communal space to catch up with colleagues over lunch.
Read more about the lunch club on AskHUE.
Adult learning courses
Sign up to a course with ACL Essex, to learn new skills and meet new people. Alternatively, go along with friends to try something new or something that inspires you.
There’s a wide range of courses on offer, such as pottery, photography, languages or cake decorating.
Download the latest course guides.
Parkrun
Take part in parkrun every Saturday at 9am. It’s free, open to everyone and brings you closer to like-minded people in your community
Visit the Parkrun website for more information.
Look out for more details on some of the above events on AskHUE coming soon.
Let the Communications team know if you have any activities staff could get involved with for Social September.
