Recording COVID-19 absence

Information for line managers about the COVID absence notification process…

If a member of your team is off sick due to COVID-19, you must follow the process below:

Email the HR Advisory team to inform them of any COVID sickness absence. Details to include:

  • Full name
  • COVID positive
  • Date sickness started
  • If they are self-isolating and not working
  • Date sickness ended

You don’t need to record it on ESR, as COVID absence isn’t counted under the normal sickness policy. While Payroll action this, HR need to record the absence first.
