Pregnancy, fertility and the COVID vaccine

Ask the experts in this staff-only free virtual event…

The Herts and West Essex Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) is hosting a free webinar for staff to answer questions about fertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding and the COVID-19 vaccine.

The event will take place on Thursday 21 October 2021, 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

The COVID-19 vaccine is strongly recommended for people who are planning a baby, are pregnant or breastfeeding as the best way to protect them and their baby. However, COVID-19 vaccination take-up in pregnant women remains low.

Pregnant women are more at risk of getting seriously ill if they catch COVID-19, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy. And if they become very sick with the virus, they are also more likely to be hospitalised and suffer complications such as premature birth and still birth.

To help increase vaccine take-up, staff working in maternity or neonatal services and who work with people planning a family are invited to join to get the latest information and ask questions about the vaccine.

The panel members will include:

  • Rachael Corser, Chief Nurse, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust/LMNS Senior Responsible Officer
  • Giuseppe Labriola, Director of Midwifery, The Princess Alexandra NHS Trust
  • Patience Chandiwana, Consultant Midwife, West Hertfordshire NHS Trust
  • Elvira Baker, Neonatal Lead, West Hertfordshire NHS Trust
  • Jasmine Leonce, Consultant Obstetric, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust

There is no need to register – join the Microsoft Teams meeting.
