#NHSBirthday celebrations

This Sunday (5 July), we mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS!

Previously we’ve been able to celebrate this with a get together however this isn’t possible this year.

We’d still like to celebrate, but in a slightly different way to normal. We are dedicating our birthday to thanking everyone who has supported the NHS during coronavirus. Not only do we want to applaud our brilliant colleagues, but also the people in our communities.

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen our communities show their love and appreciation for the NHS by turning out week after week to clap for carers. We’ve seen people donate PPE, meals, snacks, drinks and comfort packs to name just a few. So many have done their bit during the difficult weeks of lockdown, including supporting us in our different ways of working.

So please join us and the nation wherever you are on Sunday 5 July at 5pm to give the biggest, loudest and final #ThankYouTogether clap for carers and key workers.

Show your support with a selfie

You can also help West Essex CCG mark the occasion by taking a selfie with the ‘thank you together’ message. Show your appreciation to everyone for the part they’ve played in supporting the NHS over the last few months. We’d really like to use the selfies on our Facebook and Twitter pages over the weekend and also feature on AskHUE and the CCG website along with a story about the anniversary. Your message can be hand written or displayed on an electronic device (e.g. laptop, tablet) if you’re unable to print. Here’s one Anurita made earlier…

This is part of a wider NHS England campaign to encourage all staff to show their support by taking selfies, if they can, and showcasing it on social media. If you have your own social media account then please feel free to tag us on Facebook and Twitter

So please get involved and email your selfies to the Comms team by 12noon on Friday 3 July.

Our colleagues at Mid and South Essex have also teamed up with Colouring Heroes who have designed for us a fab NHS bespoke colouring sheet. Get involved and share your works of art with us! Please make sure you tag in @ColouringHeroes and @MSEssex_HCP and don’t forget to hashtag #thankyouNHS.

We’re lighting it up too!

National landmarks and buildings are to be floodlit in NHS blue on Saturday evening (4 July), – and buildings across west Essex are no exception!

As we say thank you, it is important to remember and reflect on those who lost their lives to the virus. This anniversary is also a chance for all of us to come together and pay our respects.
