Today marks the start of Mindful May, this month’s theme for our 12 months of healthiness campaign.
Mindful May aims to promote the benefits of keeping a healthy mind to help improve your mental health and wellbeing.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is deliberately paying attention to things we normally would not even notice. It is about becoming more aware of the present moment, to your own thoughts and feelings and the world around you.
What are the benefits of mindfulness?
Practicing mindfulness has many potential health benefits, which can help to:
- relax the body and mind to help reduce stress and anxiety levels
- improve the ability to fall asleep at night
- create a change in attitudes and behaviours, so having a positive mindset
- improve your mental wellbeing
- improve overall happiness and your mood.
There are many apps and online tools available which can help you manage and improve your mental health. Here are a few examples:
