Staff update on the appointment of the new West Essex and Hertfordshire CCGs’ joint accountable officer and Integrated Care System lead officer

Dear colleague

In March we wrote to inform you that we had successfully identified a preferred candidate for the role of joint accountable officer (Chief Executive) for our STP area’s three CCGs, who will also lead the Hertfordshire and West Essex Sustainability and Transformation Partnership and our developing Integrated Care System.

We have now received both regional and national confirmation of Dr Jane Halpin’s appointment. We hope that Jane can take up her new post in June – in what will remain a uniquely challenging time for health and social care.

Jane Halpin is a qualified Public Health doctor with over 25 years’ experience in the NHS in our area, including roles as a Medical Director, PCT Chief Executive and NHS England Area Director. Dr Halpin also has significant private sector experience, and re-joins the public sector from her current high-profile role as the Clinical Lead for the international consultancy firm, Deloitte. Jane lives in our area, is familiar with the local health and social care landscape and has already developed positive networks throughout our region.

We are delighted that Jane has agreed to take on the role of heading up our area’s three Clinical Commissioning Groups and leading the development of our Integrated Care System. Her many years of experience in guiding teams and systems through changes and challenges will be essential as we work together to improve health and care, both now and into the future.

We know that Jane is looking forward to working with, and getting to know our staff and services and is very mindful of the need to support our work to care for residents and staff during the coronavirus pandemic. Jane’s appointment is a really positive step along the road to a healthier future for our residents, staff and services.
