Marking National Safeguarding Adults Week 2021

Sadly there are thousands of people at risk across Essex right now of being badly treated – and knowing who can help them could prove vital.
Launched for the first time in 2018 by the Ann Craft Trust, a week dedicated to highlighting the need to safeguard adults will take place again for 2021.
From Monday 15 to Sunday 21 November, each day will see a different issue highlighted across the county when the Southend, Essex and Thurrock Safeguarding Adults will once again be supporting the initiative.
The Ann Craft Trust has released its own plans for the week with the main theme of Safer Cultures, but SET Safeguarding Adult Boards will once again be constructing themes around local issues.
They will be promoting and highlighting information about where people can get help and support for themselves, family members and friends who might be experiencing

The week will begin with highlighting the issue of modern day slavery and continue throughout the week to include cuckooing, hate crime and domestic abuse.
Over the past 12 month more than 100 modern slavery and human trafficking investigations were reported to Essex Police but it is considered to be under reported, as is hate crime.
