Lunch and learn sessions coming soon

Lunchtime learning events launching end of April…

This month sees the launch of a series of virtual lunch and learn sessions on a range of topics open to all staff.

While we’re still finalising the full programme of events, you can choose to join any of the half-hour online sessions, which will take place fortnightly, on a Wednesday, from 12.30pm to 1pm. All you have to do is provide your lunch.

For your first course, on Wednesday 28 April, we’re serving up a session on Civility Matters, which will look at:

  • What is civility and why does it matter
  • Assuming the best in others
  • Role-model civil communication
  • Know thyself first
  • Words matter
  • Standing up for yourself and others – respectfully
  • Reflection

The next session on Wednesday 12 May, a fortnight later, will be on 40 Seconds of Compassion, followed by a session on Developing Trust on Wednesday 26 May.

Here’s a taster, to whet your appetite, of what you can learn in June – details to be confirmed.

  • Wednesday 9 June – topic and speaker to be confirmed
  • Wednesday 23 June – Effective Decision Making

Everyone is invited to these bite-sized informal training and development sessions, run by our Head of Organisational Development and Learning Tanya Dewsnap van der Merwe, who said:

“These events are a great way to bring staff together, especially important with most of us working from home, to learn something new and share ideas over a spot of lunch.

“I look forward to hosting these sessions for staff, along with some guest speakers. If you have any suggestions on subjects you would like to learn about, I would welcome your contributions.”

Look out for your Teams diary invite coming soon. We’ll also include further details on the different lunch and learn topics in the staff newsletter and on AskHUE over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please get in touch with the Communications team.
