Jennie’s diabetes challenge
Jennie Knight, one of our senior transformation managers, is taking on the London Bridges Challenge on 29 September.
The London Bridges Challenge starts in Battersea Park and finishes in Potters Fields Park, overlooking the famous Tower Bridge. She will walk 10 miles, cross 12 of London’s finest bridges and join the fight for a world where diabetes can do no harm. You can sponsor her on her JustGiving page.
Jennie is taking part and fundraising following her NHS Health check in April this year. It indicated she was at a high-risk of becoming Type 2 diabetic.
So, with the support of the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme in her area, she has signed up to a nine month behaviour change programme. She’s learned so much already and is on her way to achieving her lifetime goal of taking her out of the high-risk category.
Why not take a quick online test, run by Diabetes UK to check your risk today?
If you are aged between 40 and 74 you are eligible for a free NHS Health Check (like an MOT, but for you!). Look out for your letter from your local GP, or ask them when it is due.
