It’s World Menopause Day on Monday

Wealth of support available for staff with symptoms…

Are you experiencing symptoms of menopause? If so, you are not alone.

About 13 million women are currently perimenopausal or menopausal in the UK – that’s one third of the entire UK female population. Some women will experience little or no symptoms, quite a significant number will have debilitating symptoms that can last 15 years.

Now Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT) and the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) IAPT services are hosting separate events to raise awareness of the physical and emotional challenges some women may experience when going through the menopause and perimenopause.

EPUT’s Here For You team is hosting four free online webinars for staff who are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. The webinars are designed to be interactive so the team can find out how staff can be supported during this time.

HPFT has launched a short animation video and will host a live free Menopause and Emotional Wellbeing webinar to help people learn techniques to look after themselves during this stage of life.
For many women, perimenopause and menopause can lead to a range of physical symptoms, which are unpredictable and may last for an uncertain amount of time. Hormonal changes, the physical symptoms and their unpredictability may contribute to emotional distress during perimenopause and menopause.

EPUT’s first introductory webinar is on Tuesday 19 October, from 10am to 11.30am. If you’d like to attend, please register on Eventbrite.

EPUT’s second event is focused on exercise and diet and will run on Tuesday 9 November from 10am to 12noon. A dietician from Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust and a fitness expert from Euphoria Fitness will share their knowledge during the webinar. You can register your place on Eventbrite.

If you have any questions about the webinars, email Liz Harrington or Amanda Lovitt from the Here For You team.
