It’s Organ Donation Week!

There are over 6,000 people on the transplant waiting list in the UK. Sadly, around one in ten people die or have to be removed from the waiting list before they receive a transplant because their condition has deteriorated.

If you’re an adult in England, Wales, and Scotland, you are considered willing to donate when you die, unless you have recorded a decision not to.

Organ Donation Week (20 to 26 September 2021) is all about encouraging you and your family to talk about organ donation. One of your organs could help make a difference in someone and their family’s lives.

We’re encouraging everyone in the family, regardless of age, to start talking about organ donation. Even if you are unsure if you want to donate, having that conversation might help you make up your mind.

How to register your decision

Visit NHS Organ donation website to register your decision about organ transplantation and find out more.

If you’ve had a liver transplant, you can leave a dedication to your donor on our website. Honour a Donor is a place to remember and thank those who have donated to you or your loved
