Hazel takes on mountainous challenges for 2020

Support Hazel Angus who is fundraising for charity…

On Saturday 13 June, Hazel Angus from the Medicines Optimisation team is taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

This is the first major physical challenge of 2020 Hazel has set herself, to raise money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.

Hazel will climb the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24-hours. She will start at 5pm at the bottom of Ben Nevis, 3am Sunday at the bottom of Scafell Pike and finally start her ascent of Snowdonia at 12noon.

Hazel is funding the challenge herself. If you’d like to show your encouragement and support, visit her JustGiving page. You can also put a donation in the hospice tin on reception.

Hazel will walk a total distance of 23 miles and climb over 10,000ft. All money raised will go towards the hospice and help provide specialist palliative care to those facing a life limiting illness.

Hazel said: “I have set myself some crazy challenges this year, which are really going to push me outside of my comfort zone. I’m sure they will also create a number of lasting memories to allow me to reminisce in the future. My training has started although difficult in the current weather conditions!”

And this is only a warm up! On 4 October, Hazel will also be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Hazel will trek for eight days, living in tents with no luxuries and possibly having to deal with altitude sickness. “Living the dream!” Hazel adds.
