Group A Streptococcus (iGAS) outbreak in mid and west Essex
Read an update from Mid Essex CCG highlighting the delay to the publication of the independent investigation report…
Last summer we got in touch with you to keep you updated on an outbreak of invasive Group A Streptococcus (iGAS) in the mid and west Essex area.
39 people were affected, of whom 33 were confirmed as part of the iGAS outbreak, with a further 6 probable cases; 15 people sadly died.
The iGAS outbreak Incident Management Team, which included Mid Essex CCG, Public Health England (PHE) and Provide Community Interest Company, commissioned an independent investigation into the outbreak which has now been completed and an initial draft report has been prepared.
However, as you will know, the efforts of all NHS organisations and partners are currently focussed on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, please see a briefing note from Mid Essex CCG highlighting the delay to the publication of the report.
