Essex Police town centre teams
Last week, Essex Police launched their new Town Centre Teams.
Investment in more policing has placed officers in 23 locations across the county to deal with the issues on your doorstep.
As part of the force’s dedication to visible, frontline officers, 58 constables will tackle the most prominent issues in local communities. This will make for a safer county and stronger relationships with the public.
The 58 officers will be led by 12 existing sergeants from the county’s pre-existing Community Policing Teams.
Officers in Town Centre Teams will focus on community concerns, including drug dealing and antisocial behaviour.
They will work closely with local businesses and support groups to get to the root of ongoing issues and tensions. Businesses experiencing issues at night, like bars and clubs, will also get support to help reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.
The figures for each Town Centre Team in the west (**includes 3 officers funded by Epping District Council) are as follows:
- Harlow will have three constables and one sergeant
- Loughton will have two constables and will be led by the same sergeant as Brentwood and Waltham Abbey
- Saffron Walden will have two constables and one sergeant
- Waltham Abbey will have two constables and will be led by the same sergeant as Brentwood and Loughton
