ESR ethnicity recording

To ensure we are able to monitor and risk assess the impact of COVID-19 on our workforce, we encourage you to check you have logged your ethnicity on ESR.

Emerging UK and international data suggests that people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds are being disproportionately affected by COVID-19. As a result, national guidance is being developed with an associated support offer.

We would like to be able to identify colleagues who are from BAME backgrounds, to ensure we can offer any targeted support directly. To be able to do this, we need you to check your ethnicity on ESR is accurate and up-to-date. Details on how to do this are below.

Changing incorrect or missing ‘ethnic origin’ information: step-by-step

  • Go to the ESR portal
  • Scroll down to My Equality and Diversity (at the bottom of the ‘My Annual Leave’ column) and click View details

  • Click Update my Information
  • Click in the Ethnic Origin field
  • Scroll down list of ethnicity values

  • Select ethnic origin
  • Click Confirm to save

It is worth reviewing your personal information and updating where necessary to ensure your details are accurate.
