Email guidance

In the world over 269 billion emails are sent every day, 149,517 are sent per minute, and the average office worker receives 129 per day.

At the last staff briefing there was a reminder about the training on Personal Identifiable Data. One area where this is particularly relevant is when we are using email.

In the NHS what we receive or send often contains confidential information, or patient identifiable information.  Did you know that an email address is considered this?

This is because they often contain an individuals name and may even be their personal or home email address, rather than work.

To support staff there is some Email Guidance.  This includes the following areas:

  • Emailing to multiple recipients
  • Sending meeting requests to more than one person
  • How to send confidential information securely
  • Password protection
  • Reporting incidents
  • Signatures
