Donating December – how you can support our Food Bank appeal
For many of us Christmas, and the holiday season is a time of joy, celebration and spending time with loved ones.
However, for others, it can be a real struggle to support themselves or their families. That is why the Staff Partnership Group decided to help support our local food banks across west Essex as part of Donating December.
We’ve been in touch with all three food banks and asked them what the most needed items are. We’ve put these below.
Food items
- Tinned meats (ham, spam)
- Small/medium boxes of chocolates
- Juice (long life cartons)
- Biscuits
- Sponge puddings
- Tinned veg
- Tea
- Coffee
- Tinned tomatoes
- Mince pies
An ask from all foodbanks is that the dates on all these items are as long as possible. We know it takes a second or two longer but it really does help them.
Non-food items
- Toilet rolls
- Socks (male/female/kids)
- Body spray/deodorants
- Toothpaste
Last week you will have read about the plea for bags and boxes and you will now see a number of collection points in each kitchen area, and by the photocopier for Building 3. The deadline for donations is Wednesday 11 December.
Please, if you are able, support and pop an item or two in your shopping trolley in the next few days to bring into the office. Anything you can donate will be so appreciated.
Any questions please contact the Staff Partnership Group through the Comms inbox.
Thank you.
