Donate to help people displaced by the crisis in Afghanistan

Thousands of women, children, and others most at risk of the Taliban will begin to resettle in the UK over the coming months.

Here’s how you can help those seeking refuge in the UK – from donating clothes to other items.

There are a number of places that are accepting donations of clothes for Afghans and other refugees.

If you want to donate clothes or other basic essential items, the following organisations across Essex are currently accepting donations.

Donate money

There are numerous charities doing hugely important and lifesaving work in Afghanistan.

  • UK for UNHCR – the UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency and has made an urgent plea for donations with teams on the ground delivering relief
  • Turquoise Mountain – a Scottish charity which has set up a crowd funder focussed on providing food and healthcare services for people in Afghanistan
  • Women for Afghan Women – this charity works to protect and support the rights of Afghan women and girls in a country ruled by men. You can donate online
  • Mercy Corps – aid workers for this charity are currently working to get clean water and aid to families fleeing Kabul. Donations will allow them to continue their vital work
