Do a kind deed this Donating December

Help support our local food banks across west Essex…

This week marks the start of Donating December, this month’s theme for our 12 months of healthiness campaign.

This month we’ll be looking at how you can help others by donating to charity.

Research shows the very act of giving back to the community boosts your happiness, health, and sense of wellbeing. Helping others gives us a sense of purpose and satisfaction.

With this in mind, we’re collecting items for our local foodbanks. The reverse advent calendar appeal is a way for you to give to others at what can be a difficult time of year for some.

The foodbanks will give food to those people living in isolation or poverty across Epping, Harlow and Uttlesford.

If you can spare any of the following items, please donate them by Wednesday 11 December:

Food items

  • Tinned meats (ham, spam)
  • Small/medium boxes of chocolates
  • Juice (long life cartons)
  • Biscuits
  • Sponge puddings
  • Tinned veg
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Mince pies

Non-food items

  • Toilet rolls
  • Socks (male / female / kids)
  • Body spray / deodorants
  • Toothpaste

Remember to check best before dates on these items are as long as possible.

Collection points are in each kitchen area and by the photocopier for Building 3.

Members of the Staff Partnership Group are on hand to answer questions you may have:

  • Building 1 – Helen Crumley or Steff Monk
  • Building 2 – Amber Gale or Elise Ryan
  • Building 3 – Anita Root
  • Building 4 – Judy Hiscott

Anything you donate is appreciated, so thank you for your generosity!

If you have any questions, please speak to one of the above Staff Partnership Group members or email the Communications inbox.

Finally, remember to save any used postage stamps. We’re also collecting these for charities who take part in recycling schemes. Find out more, including what happens with the used stamps
