Diabetes Week 2019 is here
This week is Diabetes Week, taking place from 10 to 16 June.
This year’s theme is about increasing the public’s understanding of diabetes. This will help to tackle the stigma many people with all types of diabetes may face.
Diabetes UK, organisers of this annual awareness week, want to help people to #SeeDiabetesDifferently. Diabetes is not just about having a condition; it’s about how it feels to live with it.
Did you know someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes?
Help celebrate and support Diabetes Week by sharing these 5 facts about diabetes:
- One in 15 of us live with diabetes
The chances are many people you know are living with diabetes - There are different types
Type 1 and Type 2 are the two main types of diabetes. There are rarer types too - Anyone can get it
Anyone can get diabetes, at anytime. It doesn’t discriminate - It’s not just tablets or injections
It’s so much more than that. It’s day in, day out. It never stops. It’s relentless - It never stops, but you don’t have to either
It might make life harder but it doesn’t have to change your ambitions or adventures
