Coronavirus (COVID-19): Key workers update
The Government has issued guidance about schools being asked to continue providing care for a limited number of children – children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.
While this position may develop, with further clarity being provided about who may be exempt, you can find more information about the current position on the GOV.UK website.
However, just in case you meet resistance:
- Parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response include those who work in health.
- If only one parent or carer is a critical worker, can I send my children in to school? – Children with at least one parent or carer who are identified as critical workers by the government can send their children to school if required [please refer to the guidance on the GOV.UK site via the above link – paragraph 4.2].
- We have just received regional clarification that NHS work undertaken from home or virtually still enables you to qualify as a key worker.
If you are asked to prove you work for the NHS, we have a letter available for staff. If this is required, please contact the Communications team with your full name and your line manager’s contact details.
