Children’s Mental Health week
This week is run by the charity, Place2Be and began in 2015. It is designed to bring attention to the importance of children and young people’s mental health. Since its launch five years ago, the week has grown in scale as awareness grows around the issue and figures show the increase of mental health conditions in the young.
The theme for the week this year is Healthy: Inside and Out. The focus on healthy living tends to be around physical wellbeing, be that getting the right level of exercise or eating the right food. There is a close link between mental and physical health. If people are happy with how they look, they tend to feel better about themselves and have a positive outlook and body image.
Within the CCG we work closely with our partners, promoting a number of accessible support networks for young people. These include:
- The Livewell campaign includes ideas for communities, families and individuals on how to improve their health and wellbeing https://www.livewellcampaign.co.uk/news/about-us/
- For information on health food suppliers and inspiration on eating more healthily go to https://healthylifeessex.co.uk/
- If children are struggling to cope and have feelings of depression or anxiety, help is available at https://www.bigwhitewall.com/
- Free, safe and anonymous online counselling is available for young people at https://www.kooth.com/
Please do look out for our messaging on social media and retweet/post/support to increase our reach.
