Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week

The 1 August marks the start of World Breastfeeding Week! Helping raise awareness of breastfeeding and support and encourage parents during their journeys.

Not only does World Breastfeeding Week aim to educate the public about the benefits of breastfeeding, it also advocates for change.

Every year the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) chooses a new theme for World Breastfeeding Week. This year’s theme is ‘Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility.’ This topic is all about highlighting “the links between breastfeeding and survival, health and wellbeing of women, children, and nations.”

How can you show your support this week?

Attend the ‘Big Latch On’ events

The event encourages everyone to get together and show their support for breastfeeding. The Global ‘Big Latch On’ is being held this Friday (6 August), Saturday (7 August), and Sunday (8 August).

Get social!

Be sure to like and share some inspiring stories of some of the mothers and babies WABA (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) are working with to promote breastfeeding.
