Calling our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff to join our new network

When patients come to access our services, it’s really important they come to a place where their needs are equally met, regardless of ethnicity and culture, ability and disability, and gender.

Understanding this and getting it right is a big part of achieving great healthcare from great people. The same is true for staff from these groups who come to work here.

We want to create a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff network to share the experiences and challenges of being a BAME member of staff, with the CCG and with each other for support.

It’s important for us to proactively encourage innovation and improvement specifically for BAME staff. We want this network to help the CCG to find solutions to those challenges.

This BAME network would be a self-organised, staff group addressing issues, and feeding them into our overarching diversity and inclusion agenda. We want to create a positive and progressive network that inspires employees from all backgrounds to be the change they want to see at West Essex CCG.

The aims and objectives of the BAME Staff Network would be to:

  • support staff from BAME backgrounds and to provide an open and transparent forum
  • empower BAME staff to recognise and maximise their full potential
  • enable BAME staff to feel they have a vital role to play in the CCG and to help improve policies and practices for all staff

There are many ways to help make a difference and becoming part of this network is one of them. If this is something you would be interested in being a part of, please email our HR Business Partner Kam Kaur.

We would also encourage staff outside of BAME backgrounds to join the Staff Partnership Group, which is aimed at enhancing the staff experience and developing new ways of working within the CCG
