Awards delight for team helping families in need

Essex children’s wellbeing practitioners shortlisted for national award…

The fantastic work of trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) in Essex has been recognised with a major award.

As eastern region winners in the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2020, in the Excellence in Mental Health Care Award category, they are now automatically shortlisted for the national title.

Set up nationally in 2017, the CWP programme involved training 1,700 new staff in evidence based treatments to help young people who might not otherwise reach the criteria for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

This is done using a method of guided self-help for common mental health problems for children, young people and their parents.

Earlier this year, the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service successfully bid to expand its current team of CWPs with these recruits now being acknowledged for their hard work across the county.

They will find out in the new year if they have been successful at the national awards.
