All staff entering care homes need to be vaccinated unless exempt
From 11 November 2021, under new government regulations, care home staff will be required to refuse entry to anyone who is not double vaccinated unless they have a specified exemption. This applies to all Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated care homes providing nursing or personal care in England.
This will also apply to all CCG colleagues who visit care homes as part of their role. Before entry you will be required to demonstrate evidence of your vaccination. This can be done by obtaining a digital COVID vaccination pass through the NHS App (not the NHS COVID-19 App) or the NHS website.
You can also download your pass as a PDF or get it sent to you via e-mail. Each pass will usually be valid for 1 week.
If you are a staff member that visits care homes and does not plan to be double vaccinated by 11 November, please inform your line manager as soon as possible.
For further information, please refer to the DHSC operational guidance Vaccination of people working or deployed in care homes (Aug 2021).
