A warm welcome to Joe Gillam
Joe has joined the Children, Young People and Maternity commissioning team…
Joe, who is working as Commissioning Manager for Children’s, Young People and Maternity Services, has 18 years of commissioning experience in numerous roles and previously worked in the Civil Service for 16 years.
He says his work in substance misuse policy at the Anti-Drugs Co-ordination Unit in the Cabinet Office led him to Commissioning and some early roles in substance misuse and mental health.
His interest in the value of quality childrens’ services came about after being involved in the Drugs Co-Ordination Unit’s ‘Positive Futures’ project to engage and encourage young people in sporting activities – specifically targeting those who may otherwise be exposed to drug taking and substance misuse.
Joe has already commissioned Children’s Services in a number of organisations including Essex County Council and Croydon CCG.
As well as an interest in Psychology and recently completing a foundation course in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy, Joe is a big music fan.
He adds: “I have a love of music, especially jazz fusion and progressive rock and my sporting interests are unfortunately painfully focussed on witnessing the current demise of Arsenal Football Club and the England cricket team.”
