A fond farewell to Gail Walker

Next week we say goodbye to Gail Walker, Head of Continuing Healthcare (CHC). Gail is retiring after several years of service with the CCG, plus many, many more working in Community Nursing within the west Essex area.

Gail joined the CCG in February 2015 having been tempted back to pick up the challenge of leading the delivery of CHC for West Essex CCG. Before this Gail worked in a number of both nursing and management roles and is well known to many people in the west Essex system.

Jane Kinniburgh, Director of Nursing and Quality, said: “Gail is a compassionate and dedicated nurse leader hugely respected and valued by patients, families, her team and her colleagues both internally and externally across west Essex and beyond.

“Since she joined us she has built a fabulous team and played a significant role in developing the service, building relationships and working with partners to improve the patient experience.”

Gail has always worked to promote the delivery of high quality services, working very much as a role model to ensure the patient always comes first.

Jane added: “For many this will feel like the end of an era and although we are really sad to see Gail go we would like to say a huge thank you and send our very warmest wishes for a long, happy and healthy retirement and her foray into new adventures. I’m sure we will all join in saying a fond farewell, good wishes and good luck Gail – we will miss you!”

Gail’s last day with us is Monday (7 December 2020).
